Wat Tyler: A Dramatic Poem is a work of historical fiction written by the English poet Robert Southey and published in 1817. The poem is based on the real-life events of the Peasants' Revolt in 1381, which was led by the rebel leader Wat Tyler. The poem follows the story of Wat Tyler, a poor English farmer who rises up against the oppressive ruling class in protest of their unfair treatment of the common people. Along with his fellow rebels, Tyler leads a rebellion against the nobility and the Church, demanding better wages, lower taxes, and an end to the serfdom system.
