The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to various civil services including IAS, IRS, IFS, and IPS, among others. The CSAT is comprised of two compulsory papers of 200 marks and of two hours duration each. The questions will be of multiple choices, objective type. The CSAT Paper-II tests the candidates’ skills in comprehension, interpersonal skills, communication, logical reasoning, analytical ability, decision-making, mental ability, problem-solving, basic numeracy, data interpretation, and English language comprehension skills. The book has been divided into 8 sections conforming to the syllabus prescribed by the UPSC for Paper-II. The section on Comprehension contains quality passages intended to test candidates’ ability to draw inferences. English language skills like narration, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, sentence arrangement, and sentence completion have been included in the next section. A large number of questions have been given in the sections on Interpersonal Skills; Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability; and Decision-making and Problem-solving. The section on General Mental Ability contains questions on analogy, series completion, coding-decoding, and mathematical operations, among others. In the section on Basic Numeracy, questions on indices and surds, simplification, profit and loss, time and distance, and simple interest have been included. The last section, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, contains questions on table chart, pie chart, bar chart, and quantitative aptitude. There are four sets of Model Test Papers for self-practice. Answer keys have been provided for self-check. Also included are previous years’ question papers for 2011 to 2014, with answers. A large number of authentic sources have been consulted to prepare this book. It will be useful for those preparing for Civil Services Aptitude Test, Paper-II.
