Dilip Dutta is a Senior Lecturer in Economics and an executive member of the Centre for South Asian Studies at the University of Sydney, Australia. He obtained his early degrees (B.A. Honours and M.A. in Economics) from the Calcutta University, India. He is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He was a Post Doctoral Fellow for two years at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. While he was at the IIM, Calcutta, he taught Economics and Operation Research in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. Dr. Dutta’s publications are in the areas of Development Economics, Economics of Planning and Applied Econometrics. His current research interests focus on topics such as socio-economic dualism, trade liberalisation and endogenous growth in the context of South and Southeast Asian countries.
