In diesem Zusammenhang soll herausgefunden werden, durch wen diese Erfahrungen zustande kommen. Das Phänomen Migration prägt die deutsche Gesellschaft schon seit geraumer Zeit. Auf Basis des Mikrozensus ermittelte das Statistische Bundesamt (Destatis), dass 2016 in Deutschland rund 18,6 Millionen Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund lebten. Es handelt sich dabei um einen Zuwachs gegenüber dem Vorjahr von 8,5%. Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland zeichnet sich als Rechtsstaat aus, in dem niemand "wegen seines Geschlechtes, seiner Abstammung, seiner Rasse [...] seiner Sprache, seiner Heimat und Herkunft, seines Glaubens, seiner religiösen oder politischen Anschauungen benachteiligt oder bevorzugt" werden darf. Nichtsdestotrotz spiegelt die Realität ein anderes Bild wieder. In der Vergangenheit gab es bereits vermehrt Studien, in denen die Bildungsbenachteiligung von SchülerInnen im Fokus stand und die Rassismuserfahrungen jener SchülerInnen untersucht wurden. Die Bildungspolitik geht davon aus, dass LehrerInnen mit Migrationshintergrund den SchülerInnen Mut machen und als Vertrauenspersonen eine stützende Funktion einnehmen können. Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel verkündete: "Wir brauchen mehr Lehrerinnen und Lehrer mit Migrationshintergrund [...]". Es stellt sich allerdings die Frage, inwiefern LehrerInnen mit Migrationshintergrund diesen Erwartungen entsprechen können, wenn sie unter Umständen selbst Rassismus oder Diskriminierungen ausgesetzt sind.
