Foundations of Electrical Engineering is designed to serve as a textbook for first year engineering students. It provides a solid understanding of the fundamental principles on which modern electrical engineering is based. Organized into four parts, the book offers more than just a basic survey of the three major topics: circuit theory, electronics, and electromagnetics. Part I starts off with basic circuit laws and elements before moving on to discuss circuit analysis principles, time-domain circuit analysis, ac analysis, measuring instruments, frequency response, and resonance. Part II provides a thorough presentation of both digital as well as analog electronic principles. It covers diodes, BJTs, FETs, transistor biasing, analog electronic circuits, op-amps, and digital electronics. Part III covers magnetic circuits, magnetic induction, transformers, and rotating electrical machines at a level ideally suited for undergraduates. Part IV covers circuit analysis using Spice software. With its coverage of the fundamentals of electrical and electronics engineering topics, the text is useful for both BEE as well as BEEE curriculums.
