About The Book

The second edition of Power System Analysis serves as a basic text for undergraduate students of electrical engineering. It provides a thorough understanding of the basic principles and techniques of power system analysis as well as their application to real-world problems.

Beginning with the basic concepts, the book gives an exhaustive coverage of transmission line parameters, simulation of power system elements, steady-state performance and travelling wave phenomena on transmission lines, symmetrical and unsymmetrical fault analyses, power flow studies, power system control, and stability analysis. The book extensively illustrates the use of MATLAB in the analysis of power systems.

Owing to its lucid style and presentation of advanced topics, the book will be useful to postgraduate students as also to practising engineers.

About The Author

T.K. Nagsarkar, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, M.S. Sukhija, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, Karnataka

T.K. Nagsarkar obtained his BE from Visvesaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur, M Tech from IIT Kharagpur, and subsequently obtained his PhD from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has about 34 years of teaching experience and retired as Professor and Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, Punjab Engineering College. Dr Nagsakar has guided many students for their PhD and ME thesis and has published many technical papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is a fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and Senior Member IEEE (USA).

M S. Sukhija, a PhD from Panjab University, was the founder principal of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, Karnataka. He has several years of experience teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Sukhija has served the power cable industry for nearly ten years and was also Director (Technical) with Educational Consultants India Ltd. where he handled innumerable projects at both the national and international levels in the field of education.
