D. H. Lawrence, once overlooked in his lifetime, is an icon of literary eminence. D.H. Lawrence: New Essays from India is an anthology of thirteen chapters on the works of Lawrence such as his nonfiction writings and paintings. From a nuanced exploration of Lawrence's initial work, The White Peacock, highlighting its symbolic realism to an analysis of the language intricacies in Women in Love, the book delves into the various facets of his vast literary contributions.

It explores how Lawrence employs literary techniques such as repetition to achieve his characteristic rhetoric and analyses his response to the Great War, citing notable contemporaries like Ezra Pound, Ford Madox Ford, Richard Aldington and Aldous Huxley. Lawrence’s ambivalent feelings towards Mexico have been examined through a close analysis of his two major works on Mexico—The Plumed Serpent and Morning in Mexico. Beyond his literary contribution, the book explores Lawrence's letters, his critique of censorship and the obscenity in his paintings. As a comprehensive reference for students of literature, this book ultimately encapsulates the profound influence of D. H. Lawrence, making it an indispensable resource for understanding the nuances of his literary genius.
