Throughout the history of human civilization, the discourse on gender has remained one of the most complex one, and social institutions have shaped our existence as gendered beings which is expressed through philosophical contentions, cultural symbolisms, and domestic rituals. This discourse on gender from the praxis of society has often created controversies, conflicts as well as inequalities and this phenomenon has attracted the attentions of various scholars, social thinkers, and activists. These inequalities have raised critical debates on gender, and sensitizing these issues through art, literature, and aesthetics still remain a challenge to the writers. This book seeks to address how this phenomenon is conceptualized and the discourse is (re)constructed through multifarious art forms. Various scholars from India have provided their critical insights on the issues of gender sensitization. The theme of the book captures the manifold perspectives and controversies arising out of ancient Hindu mythology, folk cultures, Indian fiction, historical novels, tribal groups as well as LGBT community. We hope this anthology will provide ample space for future researchers, scholars, and academicians.
