Girish Karnad: A Contemporary Playwright reveals Karnad’s contribution to contemporary Indian theatre which remains unparalleled in Indian theatre history. Shailaja B. Wadikar is an Assistant Professor in English at the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies of the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. She has obtained her PGDTE from the CIEFL (now EFLU), Hyderabad, and Ph.D. from S.R.T.M. University, Nanded. She has completed UGC’s Minor and Major Research Projects. The books based on them have been published by Atlantic Publishers & Distributors (P) Ltd., New Delhi.
Wadikar has actively participated in and presented over sixty papers at various international, national, and state-level conferences/seminars. Comparative Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Phonetics, and Linguistics are her areas of interest with specialization in some. She is also a creative writer and has two Marathi novels to her credit: Maratha Mulgi, (The Maratha Girl) Granthali, Mumbai, and Ekata Asanyachi Goshta (The Story of Being Alone) Sakshat, Aurangabad.
