Crane and his colleagues in the University of Chicago set a new trend in literary criticism in the very heyday of the New Criticism. Dr. Asit Kumar Biswas is a Reader in the Department of English (P.G. & U.G.) of Bankura Christian College, Bankura, under the University of Burdwan (West Bengal). His area of special interest is ‘Literary Criticism’ and he has contributed scholarly papers in this field to different journals and critical anthologies. He also takes much interest in modern literature.
