""By The Marshes Of Minas"" is a novel written by Charles George Douglas Roberts, first published in 1900. Set in the marshlands of Minas Basin, Nova Scotia, the book tells the story of a young man named Philip Marsham who inherits a large estate in the area. Marsham, who has spent most of his life in England, travels to Nova Scotia to take possession of his inheritance and discovers a world vastly different from the one he knows. He falls in love with a local girl, but their relationship is threatened by the social and cultural differences between them. Meanwhile, Marsham becomes embroiled in a local conflict between the Acadian farmers and the English landowners. The novel explores themes of identity, belonging, and the clash of cultures.
