Kyle is an eighteen year old fugitive running away from Savannah where he is implicated in an armed robbery and attempted murder charge for which he was truly an innocent bystander. He finds refuge with his boyhood companion and moves in with him and his intolerable girlfriend in some not-such-fancy accommodations in South Florida. Kyle gets part time work as a gardener for Jack and Lila, a well-off retired couple who become devoted to him; however, he lies about his true identity fearful of trusting anyone to learn of his secret. Both Jack and Lila have a secret they have kept hidden from each other for their entire married life. Secrets and lies becomes a way of life, and for Kyle it leads him into a homeless path of descent, misery and unimaginable distress.

After retiring, Robert and his wife June left Long Island and took up permanent residency in their Deerfield Beach home in South Florida. Robert had extensive experience in procedural and technical writing in the course of his airline business career, but creative writing has always been his real passion. Robert says his writing is very creative since he does not work from a plot outline, or for that matter even knows ahead of time how the story will evolve. He says the characters seem to control their own destinies while I watch. It's not mysticism he said, it's just spontaneity. I write what comes to mind at the time. Keeping Tigers is told in the first person from the perspective of its principle characters, and is unencumbered by heavy descriptive passages. Robert's writing style is clear and crisp with well defined characters you feel you know personally.
