Darum ist der kosmische Augenblick der Moment, in dem die Texte ihre eigenen Bedingungen reflektieren. Brockes' Irdisches Vergnügen in Gott erprobt am unerme lichen Himmel die mimetischen Leistungen einer an klassischer Abbildtheorie geschulten Beschreibungskunst. Dabei wird das All zum Darstellungsproblem. In Jean Pauls Titan dehnen die kosmischen Augenblicke gerade im Bemühen, die Urbildsphäre zu erreichen, das Reich der Zeichen weiter aus. In Goethes Wanderjahren genügt sich der Kosmos der Zeichen selbst als unaufhörliche Rede, die immer weitergehen kann . Stifters Condor schlie lich versucht eine neue Gegenständlichkeit, doch ist das All vor allem die Variable, welche die Betrachter mit literarischen Kosmosbildern füllen. Die Kosmosschau der Literatur ist in der Zeit des kosmologischen Umbruchs vom geschlossenen zum nachkopernikanischen Himmel also vor allem Betrachtung des Kosmos der Zeichen; ein Blick, den der Text auf sich selber wirft.
