The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to various civil services including IAS, IRS, IFS, and IPS, among others. The CSAT is comprised of two compulsory papers of 200 marks and of two hours duration each. The questions will be of multiple choices, objective type. The CSAT Paper-I covers current events of national and international importance.
The book Civil Service Aptitude Test is in two volumes. The first volume includes India and the world geography, Indian polity and governance. There is a chapter on Indian history, which covers ancient, medieval and modern history. The volume contains the structure and features of Indian economy and latest facts and developments in agriculture. The volume also contains the beginning and the evolution of the Indian Industrial Policy, economic development since Independence, and the present scenario of Indian economy. Indian polity, judiciary, and governance are also included.
The second volume contains general science, science & technology, medicine, discovery, and exploration. Medicine encompasses a variety of health care practices. There is a chapter on energy and power, environment and climate change.
The book has been designed for students preparing for Civil Service Examination. The approach is comprehensive and covers almost every prescribed subject, incorporating the fundamental principles and facts as well as the finer details not easily available elsewhere in a single source. It has been compiled after consulting various reliable sources like reference manuals, standard textbooks, dictionaries, newspapers, and magazines.

• K.R. Gupta, M.A. Ph.D., had been teaching postgraduate classes and guiding research for about two decades in the University of Jammu and Kurukshetra University. He has written over twenty books and contributed several papers in journals being published in India and abroad.
• D.S. Paul, M.A. English, has the experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at colleges and institutes. He has worked in a nationalised bank as Manager for over a decade. He has written and edited several books and contributed articles in journals of repute. He has set model question papers for various competitive examinations.
• Manpreet Kaur is M.A., M.Phil in Political Science. She cleared her M.Phil in first division from Vinayaka Mission University. She also holds B.Ed. degree in first division from National College of Education. She is doing Ph.D. on “Violence Against Women” from IGNOU.
