Héctor Germán Oesterheld (Buenos Aires, 23 de julio de 1919 - desaparecido por la última dictadura argentina en 1977) fue un destacado guionista de historietas y escritor argentino, reconocido por su impacto en la ciencia ficción y la narrativa gráfica. Publicó numerosos relatos breves y novelas en revistas como Misterix, Hora Cero y Frontera, creando series con personajes icónicos como Sargento Kirk, Ernie Pike y Bull Rocket.
Su obra maestra, El Eternauta, publicada entre 1957 y 1959 en Hora Cero Semanal, es una historieta de ciencia ficción que narra la invasión alienígena a la Tierra mediante una tormenta de nieve tóxica. Protagonizada por Juan Salvo, la historia destaca la resistencia colectiva y se convirtió en un símbolo de lucha y memoria en Argentina, con una fuerte carga política y social. Es considerada una de las historietas más influyentes de Latinoamérica.
Héctor Germán Oesterheld (Buenos Aires, July 23, 1919 - disappeared during Argentina's last dictatorship in 1977) was a prominent comic scriptwriter and writer, recognized for his impact on science fiction and graphic storytelling. He published numerous short stories and novels in magazines such as Misterix, Hora Cero, and Frontera, creating series with iconic characters like Sargento Kirk, Ernie Pike, and Bull Rocket.
His masterpiece, El Eternauta, published between 1957 and 1959 in Hora Cero Semanal, is a science fiction comic that narrates an alien invasion on Earth through a deadly snowstorm. Starring Juan Salvo, the story highlights collective resistance and became a symbol of struggle and memory in Argentina, carrying a strong political and social message. It is considered one of the most influential comics in Latin America.

Francisco Solano López nació el 26 de octubre de 1928. Fue uno de los dibujantes más importantes de Argentina. Su carrera comenzó en los años 50 en Editorial Columba, donde ilustró Perico y Guillermina. Poco después inició su sociedad creativa con Héctor Germán Oesterheld en Bull Rocket para Misterix. En Editorial Frontera, trabajó en Joe Zonda, Rul de la Luna, Rolo el marciano adoptivo, Ernie Pike y El Cuaderno Rojo.
Después de El Eternauta, Solano se mudó a Europa (1963-1967), donde trabajó para Fleetway en más de 60 títulos, como Galaxus, Kelly Ojo Mágico y Adam Eterno. Al volver a Argentina, el éxito de El Eternauta lo llevó a reunirse con Oesterheld para crear El Eternauta II en Skorpio (1976). También colaboró con Ricardo Barreiro en Slot Barr, Ministerio e Instituto. En 1977 emigró a España, donde trabajó en Ana y Historias Tristes. En 1980, ilustró Águila Negra con Ray Collins para Nippur Magnum. En Superhumor publicó Calle Corrientes con Guillermo Saccomanno y creó Evaristo con Carlos Sampayo. Francisco Solano López was born on October 26, 1928. He was one of Argentina's most important comic artists. His career began in the 1950s at Editorial Columba, where he illustrated Perico y Guillermina. Shortly after, he started his creative partnership with Héctor Germán Oesterheld in Bull Rocket for Misterix. At Editorial Frontera, he worked on Joe Zonda, Rul de la Luna, Rolo el marciano adoptivo, Ernie Pike and El Cuaderno Rojo.
After El Eternauta, Solano moved to Europe (1963-1967), where he worked for Fleetway on more than 60 titles, including Galaxus, Kelly Ojo Mágico and Adam Eterno. Upon returning to Argentina, the success of El Eternauta led him to reunite with Oesterheld to create El Eternauta II in Skorpio (1976). He also collaborated with Ricardo Barreiro on Slot Barr, Ministerio and Instituto.
In 1977, he emigrated to Spain, where he worked on Ana and Historias Tristes. In 1980, he illustrated Águila Negra with Ray Collins for Nippur Magnum. In Superhumor, he published Calle Corrientes with Guillermo Saccomanno and created Evaristo with Carlos Sampayo. Later, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, working remotely for publishers worldwide.
He received awards such as El Madroño in Madrid (1998), a Mention at Comics & Games Italy (2007) and the Rodolfo Walsh Award (2009). In 2008, he was declared a Distinguished Cultural Personality in Buenos Aires. He received posthumously the Konex Prize (2012), and in 2016, El Eternauta won the Eisner Award.
