Prevention is examined at a number of levels including policy, policing, and the creation of safer environments. Detailed coverage is provided on specific treatments for offenders in the community and in prison, for intimate partner violence and sexual violence, for dually diagnosed offenders and those with intellectual disabilities, and for violence related to alcohol-impaired driving. Each chapter presents a review of research evidence and implications for practice.

Mary McMurran is Professor in the University of Nottingham's Institute of Mental Health. She has authored more than 100 academic articles and book chapters, many of which address the assessment and treatment of alcohol-related aggression, is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is also a recipient of the BPS Division of Forensic Psychology's Lifetime Achievement Award.
