Der Autor beschreibt das Auf und Ab, das er selbst mit dieser Krankheit erlebt hat, und gibt einen Einblick in die Auswirkungen der Krankheit, aber er stellt auch vor, was er selbst getan hat, um ein Leben führen zu können, das er selbst mit COPD genie en kann. Zwar ist COPD nicht heilbar, aber man kann selbst viel dafür tun, dass man nicht daran zerbricht. Dem Autor geht es nach 30 Jahren mit der Erkrankung so gut wie schon lange nicht mehr.

Roland Blümel, in Nordenham geboren, lebt seit vielen Jahren in Hamburg und ist in zweiter Ehe verheiratet. Sein Studium der allgemeinen Betriebswirtschaftslehre hat er im Jahr 1984 als Diplom-Kaufmann abgeschlossen. Nachdem er lange Jahre in einem großen IT-Unternehmen als Berater tätig, war, arbeitet er inzwischen Vollzeit als Autor und freier Lektor (ADM). In 2016 wurde unter seiner Mitwirkung eine Krimi-Anthologie unter dem Titel "teilweise tödlich" veröffentlicht. Als Mitglied der "Autorengruppe Tödlich" war er an vier der fünf bisher erschienenen Bände als Autor und an allen Bänden als Lektor beteiligt. 2017 sind seine Thriller "Männerfeindschaft" und "Ein Alb-Traum-Urlaub" erschienen, im September 2017 sein erster Hamburg Krimi mit dem jungen Kommissar Z. Der Titel heißt "Ermittlungen durch die rosarote Brille". Der zweite Band "Selbstjustiz" ist im Mai 2018 erschienen, der dritte im November 2018 erschienen und trägt den Titel "Kommissar am Abgrund". Band 4 "Tödliche Haarpracht" und der Band "TSB - Der Currywurstmord" folgten in 2019. Sein sechster Kommissar-Z-Fall spielt auf Helgoland und trägt den Titel "Klassentreffen mit tödlichem Ausgang". Außerdem erschien das halb-autobiographische Buch "Alterserscheinungen - mein Reisetagebuch in den (Un-)Ruhestand" eine humoristische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Älterwerden.
