Blavatsky resgatou inúmeros conhecimentos desta região e as compilou em suas obras, dentre elas "A Voz do Silêncio". A vida e a obra de H.P.B. (como é conhecida), bem como seu conhecimento ímpar sobre os mistérios custodiados nos monastérios tibetanos serão mencionados nessa obra de uma forma mais medicinal como um verdadeiro Reiki de bruxas e magos, esses mistérios do Tibet foram algo revolucionário para alguns conceitos que mais tarde seria vivenciado por Philippe de Lyon Em uma época em que o cristianismo tradicional estava travado em um debate com Darwin sobre a evolução, quando as pessoas tinham que escolher entre a fé cega e as leis da ciência, Madame Blavatsky proclamou uma espiritualidade que transcendia a ambos e apontava para o Oriente. No próprio Oriente, onde a ciência e o colonialismo ocidental estavam diminuindo rapidamente a influência das filosofias religiosas tradicionais, Madame Blavatsky foi pelo menos parcialmente responsável por reviver o hinduísmo e o budismo. Em todos os seus escritos, com suas especulações selvagens e mitologias elaboradas, há um núcleo de verdade que poucos outros estavam proclamando na época. Mesmo os princípios básicos da Sociedade Teosófica, que parecem comuns agora, foram surpreendentes quando ela os formulou, na década de 1870.Ela não assumiu ares espirituais. Ela fumava (fumo continuamente e ocasionalmente haxixe) e tinha um humor rabelaisiano obsceno.Em 1880, no Sri Lanka, Blavatsky e Olcott realizaram a cerimônia de "tomar Pansil", os cinco preceitos budistas leigos, também refugiando-se em Buda, Dharma e Sangha. "Foi a primeira vez que os cingaleses viram um membro da raça branca governante tratar o budismo com algo que se aproximasse do respeito" Anagarika Dharmapala, o grande defensor do renascimento budista do Sri Lanka, começou na Sociedade Teosófica no Ceilão. Ele se tornou um protegido de Madame Blavatsky e permaneceu seu defensor leal pelo resto de sua vida. O ocultista Arthur Sinnett, supostamente sob a influência de Koot Hoomi, escreveu o importante texto Budismo Esotérico.
