Der Autor litt unter Depressionen, ohne es zu wissen. Die Depressionen trieben ihn in die Arbeitslosigkeit. Mit viel Ausdauer und unter Höllenqualen schaffte er es, die Depression zu besiegen, und zwar durch Willenskraft, Psychotherapie, Arbeit, Sport, Lesen und Medikamente gegen Panikattacken. Noch in der Depression schrieb er das Buch, um jeden davor zu warnen, je in Depressionen zu fallen. Die Lektüre soll dazu dienen, depressionsgefährdete Menschen auf die Gefahren hinzuweisen, die zu dieser Krankheit führen können, und zum Umdenken anzuregen, damit sie diese nie erleiden müssen. Der Weg in die Depression kann kurz sein, jedoch wieder aus der Depression heraus zu kommen kann ewig dauern, wenn man nicht an sich arbeitet. depressiven Menschen einen Weg zu zeigen und Mut machen, wie man wieder Normalität erlangen kann, indem man an sich arbeitet - über viele Monate, sogar Jahre hinweg - und ihnen klarzumachen, dass man niemals aufgeben darf. Angehörige, Freunde und Bekannte von Depressiven sowie depressionsgefährdeten Menschen aufzuzeigen, welches Leid man als Depressiver durchmacht und wie es überwunden werden kann. Denn wer noch nie damit zu tun hatte, hat keine Vorstellung davon und wei daher auch nicht, wie er sich in solch einem Fall verhalten soll.

Dieter Broichhagen, geboren 1956, wuchs in Troisdorf bei Bonn auf und besuchte die Hauptschule in Menden/Sieg. Er machte 1971 eine Lehre als Starkstromelektriker bei der Deutschen Bundesbahn. Danach leistete er seinen Wehrdienst bei der Marine als Funker ab. 1980 bildete er sich weiter zum staatlich geprüften Elektrotechniker. Heute arbeitet er in einem Unternehmen in Hilden als Netzwerkadministrator. Das Buch "Irrfahrt durch die Depression" schrieb er, bedingt durch seine selbst gemachten Erfahrungen mit dieser Krankheit. Er kämpfte sich 2 Jahre aus den Depressionen und verfasste das Buch als Ratgeber für Betroffene
