Desde los albores de la humanidad, el malestar, la enfermedad y la muerte han sido los enemigos a entender. La naturaleza ha sido la fuente de respuestas a muchas de estas interrogantes, y es por ello, que todas las culturas ancestrales, y lo podemos constatar en la antropología y la arqueología, tienen un vasto acúmulo de experiencia médica, respecto al tratamiento de todo tipo de enfermedades y dolencias, generalmente ligadas a los recursos naturales encontrados en los alrededores donde se desarrollaron esas culturas ancestrales. Entonces entendemos que la naturaleza ha sido la fuente de recursos para crear medicamentos, alimentos, pociones, ungüentos, etc., mismos que han servido como fundamento para el desarrollo de la medicina moderna, también llamada medicina Occidental. La cual se ha caracterizado por un amplio desarrollo tecnológico, pero enfocándose en el tratamiento de los efectos y dejando a un lado la solución de las causas. Por otro lado, con un mismo origen, la medicina naturalista, también llamada holística, se ha desarrollado sustentada en la experiencia directa con el manejo de los recursos vegetales, minerales y animales que por medio de la dieta, la herbolaria, la fitoterapia, el masaje y la acupuntura y ha evolucionado a través de las eras, habiendo llegado hasta el Siglo XXI, con más fuerza, pese a la lucha negacionista propuesta por la medicina académica, la cual ha juzgado a la medicina holística como superstición y falsedad. No obstante, en el presente, algunas corrientes de pensamiento moderno, han volteado a ver a la medicina holística y en muchos casos, la han considerado como medicina complementaria, lo cual abre el abanico de alternativas en numerosos tratamientos modernos. Es el caso de la Medicina Tradicional China, la cual ha sido reconocida por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) como una alternativa medica valida y por ello, muchos hospitales Occidentales la han incluido en su oferta médica. Algo similar ha sucedido con la homeopatía y el masaje holístico, entre otras. Este material que comparto contigo querido lector, sirve como un reconocimiento mas informado de algunas de las alternativas médicas holísticas más conocidas, así como la revisión de algunos remedios de uso común que han trascendido en el tiempo y que han sido conservados en el haber colectivo como remedios prácticos, económicos y efectivos. Como en todos mis libros, siempre invito a mis lectores a corroborar, a investigar y a cuestionar todo lo que escribo. Existe mucho material académico y holístico que se puede emplear para escudriñar en lo que ofrezco y propongo. Siempre es conveniente obtener la opinión de un especialista alopático, respecto a las enfermedades y tratamientos disponibles y analizar, si estos pueden ser combinados con alguna terapia holística, lo cual sin duda alguna beneficiara al paciente.
