In the early-twentieth century, Carey, an American physician, and Perry, a noted astrologer, adapted the teachings of Dr. Wilhelm H. Schuessler, an influential figure in the German homeopathy movement. Carey and Perry combined Schuessler's teachings with religion, astrology, and the physical sciences to form a theory of a mineral-based model of human disease, which they present in The Zodiac and the Salts of Salvation.

Part One offers a summary of the twelve signs of the zodiac, and how they correspond to the vibrations of the twelve mineral salts, demonstrating how to use them to heal from nearly any disease.

Part Two details each mineral salt and its uses, and follows the link between the Sun Signs and the basics of homeopathy. It explains how the Sun Signs correspond to Biblical symbolism, using texts from the Kabbalah, Freemasonry, and eastern and western philosophy.
