Regeln, Verhaltensmuster, Gesetze im Gastland müssen beachtet werden. Umgangsformen, rechtliche Vorgaben, kulturelle Werte und andere gelten uneingeschränkt. So geben die Kapitel im Buch Tipps und Hinweise im Umgang mit Menschen anderer Kulturen. Es wird eingegangen auf Themen wie der erste Eindruck, Political Correctness, Emanzipation, Gleichberechtigung, Geschlechterkonformität, Respekt und Achtung. Das soziale Miteinander im täglichen Leben, im Beruf und der Familie ergänzen den Inhalt. Auch wenn das Buch den Titel "Welcome to Germany" trägt, sind damit auch Teile der Schweiz, Österreich, Südtirol und andere europäische Länder gemeint, in denen Deutsch gesprochen wird.
