In A Companion to Jesuit Mysticism, Robert A. Maryks provides thirteen unique essays discussing the Jesuit mystical tradition, a somewhat neglected aspect of Jesuit historiography that stretches as far back as the order's co-founder, Ignatius of Loyola, his spiritual visions at Manresa, and ultimately the mystical perspective contained in his Spiritual Exercises.

The volume's contributions on the most significant representatives of the Jesuit mystical tradition--from Baltasar Álvarez to Louis Lallemant to Hugo Makibi Enomiya-Lassalle--aim to fill this lacuna in Jesuit historiography. About The Author

Robert Aleksander Maryks, PhD (2006) in history, Fordham University, is associate professor of history, associate director of the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies, and editor of Jesuit Sources at Boston College. He has published on various aspects of the history of the Jesuits, including Saint Cicero and the Jesuits (Ashgate, 2008), The Jesuit Order as a Synagogue of Jews (Brill, 2009), Pouring Jewish Water into Fascist Wine (Brill, 2011), and A Companion to Ignatius of Loyola (Brill, 2014). He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Jesuit Studies, the Jesuit Studies book series, Boston College Jesuit Bibliography: The New Sommervogel Online, and Jesuit Historiography Online.
