About the Book This book traces the history of Delhi from the Stone Age to the time of the Rajputs. It meticulously weaves together evidence from stone tools, ancient mounds, pottery, monuments, sculpture, literature, and local traditions to construct a comprehensive and lively narrative. Highlighting the intersections between 'ancient', 'medieval' and 'modern' in the city's historical landscape, it presents the different ways in which the past is remembered and recreated. The text is illustrated with several maps and photographs bringing alive Delhi's little known ancient past. The second edition updates the research on Delhi's history and includes some new evidence. It also underlines the importance of new perspectives for understanding Delhi's past. About the Author Upinder Singh</b> is an alumna of St Stephen's College at Delhi.
