About The Book

History of India, the monumental four-volume work, offers an elaborate and chronological account of Indian history from the earliest times to the present period. It endeavors to give, without prolixity, a statement of the relevant facts at present available, both in regard to the origin of the more important Indian races, and in regard to their progress before they came under the unifying processes of modern administration. It also includes the brief relation of the unprecedented series of events under which a remote commercial people have begun to weld those races into a single nationality. This volume discusses all aspects of Indian history from 1206 A.D. to 1773 A.D. Part I of the volume covers the Sultanate period and Part II deals with the Mughal period and the arrival of the Europeans. The process through which the Britishers, who came as traders but rapidly transformed themselves into rulers, has been outlined in this volume. A very important feature of this volume is the emphasis it lays on the social, economic, and cultural conditions prevalent in India during the Sultanate and the Mughal periods. This comprehensive yet reasonably sized four-volume work on Indian history will prove to be of immediate interest and relevance not only to students and teachers of Indian history, but also to the general reader.

About The Author

Prof. N. Jayapalan, M.A. (History and Political Science), M.Phil. (History), Ph.D. (History), has retired from Government Arts College (Autonomous), Karur, Tamil Nadu. A keen participant at seminars and conferences connected with Indian History and Political Science, Prof. Jayapalan has authored several books on History and Political Science including Indian Society and Social Institutions, History of India, History of World Civilisation, Problems of Indian Education, Comprehensive Modern Political Analysis, Comprehensive Study of Aristotle, Comprehensive Study of Plato, Comprehensive History of Political Thought, Social and Cultural History of India Since 1556, Sociological Theories, History of English Literature, Indian Administration, History of the United State of America, Human Rights, and Historiography. He is one of the most popular authors in Tamil Nadu.
