En una fr�a noche de febrero de 1943, la familia Brilleslijper llega a una villa escondida en las profundidades del bosque holand�s: el Nido Alto. The gripping story of two Jewish women who stood up to the Nazis to give shelter to dozens of victims and accompanied Anne Frank until the end of her days.
On a cold February night in 1943, the Brilleslijper family arrived at a villa hidden in the depths of the Dutch forest: the High Nest. Within its walls, the young sisters Janny and Lien organized the most daring operation of the resistance against the Nazis: creating a hiding place to save dozens of Jews, right under the noses of the occupation leaders living just meters away.
A little more than a year later, the safety of the hideout was compromised. Janny and Lien were arrested and taken to the Westerbork camp, where they encountered very special company: Anne Frank and her sister Margot. Together they faced the atrocities of Nazism and were eventually deported to Auschwitz. Janny and Lien became the emotional support of the Frank sisters, caring for them as if they were their own family.
Author Roxane Van Iperen moved into this house without knowing it had been a refuge during the war. Shocked by her discovery, she spent six years researching and sought out the sisters' family to tell their story. The result is a moving account of strength, human resilience, and the courage of women united by tragedy.

Roxane van Iperen is a novelist, lawyer, and publicist. Her first novel, Schuim der aarde (Scum of the Earth), was published by Lebowski in 2016 and won the Hebban Award for Best Debut Novel. However, her most renowned work is The Sisters of Auschwitz. Roxane has written for FD, NRC Handelsblad, Het Parool, Vrij Nederland, De Morgen, Follow the Money, and was a guest correspondent in Brazil for De Correspondent.
She still lives in the High Nest with her family, where she continues to develop her literary and journalistic career, establishing herself as one of the most relevant voices in contemporary Dutch narrative.
