Federico Samaniego Lapuente es ingeniero agrónomo por la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (1980); ha sido profesor e investigador asociado del Centro de Estudios Agrarios A. C. y de Fomento Cultural y Educativo A. C. (1981-1998); miembro participante del Taller Nacional de Coyuntura. Estudió Historia de Estados Unidos en Washington D.C., en donde residió ocho años.
