He knits the pieces and ends with a personal evaluation and commentary on the rise and decline of these historical civilizations. About The Author

Vere Gordon Childe (1892-1957), an Australian archaeologist and historian, left an enduring mark on studying human history and prehistory. After serving as an officer in the Australian Army during World War I, he pursued archaeology and anthropology in England, becoming fascinated by ancient societies' social and economic structures. His tenure at the University of Edinburgh bore the fruits of his groundbreaking theories on the origins of civilization. Childe's most significant contributions lie in introducing the "Neolithic Revolution" concept, signifying the shift from nomadic hunter-gatherer communities to settled societies reliant on agriculture. He emphasized technological advancements and social organization and redefined our understanding of ancient civilizations. Although his work stirred controversy and criticism, Childe remained steadfast in his approach to history.
