Magda begann mit dem Schreiben bereits als Grundschülerin. Während eines Ferienaufenthaltes bei ihrer Patentante schrieb sie an einer Geschichte für Mädchen - den Abenteuern von Lily und Klara, die beschlossen hatten, 'in die Welt' zu reisen. Wieder zu Hause angekommen, kontaktierte sie den Schneider Verlag - damals bekannt für seine Bücher für junge Leser - und stellte ihr Manuskript vor. Der Verlag zeigte tatsächlich Interesse, aber der Mut hatte die Schülerin verlassen, und sie verfolgte diesen Weg nicht weiter. Ein Beschluss, den sie in den folgenden Jahren bereute. Magda wuchs in einer Landgemeinde in der Westpfalz auf. Als Bauernkind wurde ihr die Liebe zur Natur bereits in die Wiege gelegt. Sie ist verheiratet und lebt seit vielen Jahren in Südafrika; davon seit einiger Zeit in Pretoria.
