My log cabin adventure provided two of the most memorable and fun years of my life. If it is your dream to build your own cabin, or build off the grid and test your own talents, or simply want an outdoor experience with the changing seasons, you may find this book worthwhile. It is written in journal form, as that is how I wrote it - each day recording what I had accomplished and how I felt. To some extent the book is a how-to-do-it, step-by-step procedural narration. And on the other hand it often is a cautionary tale of how not to build a cabin. Consequently it was a wonderful learning experience - one that led to a future career as a log cabin builder.

George Coussoulos had a professional career in Fairfax County Virginia as an educator before he took his chain saw and two year old cocker spaniel into the woods to begin a log cabin adventure. He is a graduate of Old Dominion and has a master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia - not exactly the best preparation for building a log cabin by oneself!
