Der Schauerroman und seine Entwicklung., Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Horla von Guy de Maupassant ist eine sehr bedrückende und unheimliche Erzählung. Das hat verschiedene Gründe - alle sind jedoch im Text begründet. Mein Interesse besteht darin, zu untersuchen, wie das Unheimliche der Erzählung selber entspringt. Dafür bediene ich mich der Erzähltheorie: ein wenig Martinez und zur Ergänzung Petersen. Konkret gilt mein Interesse der Frage, ob das Angstmachende am Horla in der Verunsicherung, genauer dem Fehlen von Referenzpunkten, der begrenzten Sicht, und in der unentrinnbaren Unmittelbarkeit des Tagebuches begründet liegt. Ich werde jedoch nicht nur auf das Formale eingehen, sondern auch inhaltliche Aspekte hinzuziehen. Martinez' Stimme und Modus erachte ich für wichtig für meine Analyse: Die Stimme ist unerlässlich, weil der Erzähler und seine Stellung zum Geschehen eine dominante Rolle spielt. Der Modus ist ebenso wichtig, weil dazu die Distanz und die Fokalisierung gehört, was beim Horla auch auffällig ist. Schliesslich benutze ich zur Ergänzung Petersens Perspektive und Point of View, um die Sehweise der Erzählung genauer bestimmen zu können. Ergänzend werde ich auch inhaltlich analysieren, wie die Unsicherheit erzeugt wird, jedoch auch auf die oben genannten Punkte bezogen. Meine Thesen sind: Unheimlich ist die Erzählung Der Horla, weil Durch die unsichere Wahrnehmung der (erzählten) Aussenwelt und das schwankende Innere des Erzählers Unsicherheit und Verwirrung generiert wird. Durch die eingeschränkte Sicht und das Fehlen von Referenzpunkten der Bezug zur Aussenwelt und die Orientierung verloren geht, und weil die Einsamkeit und Abgeschiedenheit, die Distanz zu Anderen, dies begünstigt - woraus wiederum Unsicherheit entsteht.
