Dans ce travail, nous nous intéressons à la stativité en tant que notion aspectuelle fondamentalement opposée à l'événementialité. Nous avons pu vérifier que les états constituent, d'un côté, une classe suffisamment homogène pour la distinguer, en tant que telle, des événements et, d'un autre côté, suffisamment hétérogène pour nécessiter une sous-classification. Une fois les états séparés des événements, nous avons proposé une première distinction entre états K(imiens) et états D(avidsoniens) (Maienborn, 2005). La différence fondamentale entre les deux est que les états-D incluent un argument événementiel (davidsonien) supplémentaire, dont sont dépourvus les états-K. En second lieu, nous avons postulé une distinction des états-K entre états individual-level (IL) et états stage-level (SL). Pour cela, nous circonscrivons la distinction de Carlson (1977) à la classe des états et nous la réinterprétons en termes temporels: les SL dénotent des états bornés temporellement, alors que les IL dénotent des états non bornés temporellement. Enfin, nous tentons de vérifier si chacune de ces distinctions s'observe dans les différentes catégories grammaticales.
