Obwohl vermieden wird, ihr einen Namen zu geben, nehmen ihre Monologe einen sehr gro en Teil des Textes ein, ihre Entscheidung ist ausschlaggebend f�r den Verlauf der Geschichte. Die Geschichte um sie und ihren Willen, sich f�r Heinrich zu opfern, stellt eine eigenst�ndige Binnenerz�hlung dar. Der Charakter des M�dchens stellt f�r viele Interpreten eine gro e Schwierigkeit dar. Nicht nur die Tatsache, dass sie anonym bleibt ist au ergew�hnlich f�r eine mittelalterliche Erz�hlung. Auch ihre st�ndische Herkunft, es ist die Tochter eines einfachen Bauers, l� t sich nicht mit ihrer �u eren Erscheinung und ihrem tugendhaften Charakter verbinden. Seine Handlungen und ihre Intelligenz entsprechen nicht ihrer Herkunft, obwohl diese Entsprechung f�r die mittelalterliche Literatur eigentlich �blich war. Das mit der Meierstochter verbundene zentrale Thema der Aufopferung wird in der folgenden Arbeit analysiert. Dabei soll vor allem erl�utert werden, inwiefern der Wille des M�dchens, f�r ihren Herrn zu sterben, von ihr durchdacht ist und ob es sich hierbei um einen Akt der N�chstenliebe handelt, oder ob ihre Absicht sich zu opfern in erster Linie das eigene Seelenheil als Ziel hat und sie somit vor allem aus egoistischen Gr�nden handelt. Hierbei wird vor allem auf die A-Fassung des Armen Heinrich Bezug genommen, wobei einige Vergleiche mit der B-Fassung gemacht werden m�ssen, um zu erl�utern, welche anderen M�glichkeiten Hartmann f�r den Ausgang der Geschichte um die Meierstochter in Betracht gezogen hat. Um die verschiedenen Entwicklungsstadien der Meierstochter �bersichtlich darzustellen und nachzuvollziehen, wird die folgende Analyse sich an der Textgliederung Heinz Rupps festmachen.
