George Frederick Leycester Marshall, (1843–1934) was a British naturalist and entomologist, known for his extensive work on butterflies. Serving as a military officer in British India, he co-authored Butterflies of India, Burma, and Ceylon. Marshall made significant contributions to the study of Lepidoptera in South Asia. Lionel de Nicéville, (1852–1901) was a British entomologist renowned for his work on butterflies in India. He co-authored Butterflies of India, Burma, and Ceylon with G.F.L. Marshall. As a curator at the Indian Museum in Calcutta, he contributed significantly to the study and classification of South Asian butterflies.
