Edwyn Robert Bevan (1870–1943) was a British philosopher and historian, specializing in the Hellenistic world. Educated at Monkton Combe School and New College, Oxford, he became a Lecturer in Hellenistic History and Literature at King's College London. Bevan was awarded honorary doctorates from St. Andrews and Oxford and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1942. He contributed to Britain's War Propaganda Bureau during World War I. Bevan's personal life included marriage to Mary Waldegrave, with whom he had two daughters. His daughter Christina became the subject of notable early colour photographs by Mervyn O'Gorman in 1913.
