About The Book

About The Author

Annie Besant, (1847–1933) was a British socialist, theosophist, women's rights advocate, and key supporter of Indian nationalism, serving as the first female president of the Indian National Congress in 1917. Originally an advocate for atheism, she shifted to theosophy after meeting Helena Blavatsky. Besant fought for social reforms, education, and self-rule in India, founding institutions like the Central Hindu School. A prolific writer and orator, her notable works include On the Deity of Jesus of Nazareth (1872) and Christianity (1889). Her advocacy and writings left a lasting impact on social and political movements. Besant's impactful legacy includes over 300 literary works and her role in founding Banaras Hindu University. C. Jinarajadasa, (1875–1953) was a notable Ceylonese author, occultist, and theosophist, serving as the fourth president of the Theosophical Society. He published over 50 books and 1,600 articles on topics such as religion, philosophy, and science. In 1889, he moved to England with Charles Webster Leadbeater, eventually studying oriental languages at St John's College, Cambridge. Jinarajadasa was also a skilled linguist, adept in multiple European languages, and significantly contributed to Theosophical literature throughout his life.
