Chetna Keer is a novelist, Hindustan Times columnist, former guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi, and a climate change poet and speaker. Her novel Geisha in the Gota Patti was recently longlisted for the Oxford Bookstore Book Cover Prize 2026.

A former senior journalist and Lifestyle Editor, Chetna has over 25 years of experience in print media. Her work has appeared in leading publications including Hindustan Times, Deccan Herald, The Hindu, The Week, The Tribune, India Today, and Femina. She has also served as guest faculty at IIMC and as a Creative Writing Mentor for Deepalaya’s media program in collaboration with the McCandlish Phillips Journalism Institute, New York. She currently writes the popular Hindustan Times column WITerati, which critiques social media and contemporary culture.

Chetna is the author of five books, including the three novels in her Gulmohar Trilogy: Geisha in the Gota Patti, Garnets Under My Gulmohar, and Giddha on My Gulmohar. Her earlier books include Troll-itically Incorrect (2018) and Veggies Go on a Beauty Parade (Rupa, 2005).

Her Gulmohar Trilogy has received endorsements from literary voices including Rahul Singh, Director of the Khushwant Singh Literature Festival, and Sanjoy Roy, co-founder of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

She was invited as a speaker at the Whitmarsh Knight Memorial Lecture on Climate Crisis in 2019 at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. She has also appeared at major literary festivals including Pune International Literature Festival, Khushwant Singh Literature Festival, ANANKE’s Global South Women in Literature Festival, and Chandigarh Litfest.
