Thomas Hodson (1804-1882) was a dedicated Wesleyan missionary in India, particularly known for his work with the Wesleyan Canarese Mission in Bangalore and Gubbi. He played a pivotal role in establishing the first Canarese school in Mysore and was instrumental in founding the Wesleyan Canarese Chapel, now known as Hudson Memorial Church. A skilled linguist and Kannada scholar, he authored An Elementary Grammar of the Kannada Language. Hodson arrived in India in 1829, mastering Bengali, Canarese, and Tamil during his service
