This book delves deeply into an analysis of the coins issued by the Patan Sultans who governed Hindustan in the medieval era. It meticulously dissects these coins, providing intricate descriptions of their designs, inscriptions, and historical relevance. Through the inclusion of coin illustrations, the author elevates the reader's comprehension of this subject. Additionally, the book furnishes a concise account of the Patan Sultans and their rule in Hindustan. It stands as a valuable reference for historians, numismatists, and those intrigued by the history of Hindustan and its rulers. Ultimately, this book offers an engrossing journey into a pivotal facet of medieval Indian history.

Edward Thomas CIE FRS (1813 – 1886) was an English civil servant with the East India Company, celebrated for his writings on Indian antiquities. Despite health setbacks, he declined a prominent government post in India and served as a judge in Delhi before retiring in 1857. The remainder of his life was devoted to scholarly pursuits, leading to his election as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1871 and his appointment as a Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire in 1884. Thomas made groundbreaking contributions to numismatics, Indian metrology, and Persian gems and inscriptions, leaving behind significant works and numerous scholarly papers.
