Dinesh Kumar Gupta is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of AGMUT cadre. He was born in Allahabad. His father Late (Shri) J.R. Gupta was a senior police officer in UP Police. He completed his B.Sc from Lucknow University, two years P.G. Diploma in Business Administration from IPM, Lucknow, LLB from Lucknow University and LLM Police Studies from National Law University, Delhi. He has held the posts of ACP/Sub-Division Gandhi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Alipur and Narela, ACP/Operation of East Distt, North-East Distt and South-West Distt., ACP/Special Branch, Addl. DCP in East Distt, New Delhi Distt, South-West Distt and North Distt, DCP in Crime Branch, Airport, Traffic, Railways and Shahdara District. He has also served as OSD to DGP, IGP Operations and Commandant 1st Armed Police Bn., Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh Police.During his service, Mr. Gupta has been awarded President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2018, CP's Delhi disc for excellence in administrative duties for the year-2024, Police (Antarik Suraksha Seva) Padak Medal & Special duty (Medal) for deployment in counter insurgency/internal security operations in Arunachal Pradesh, Special Commendation Certificate & disc from C.P, Delhi in c/w prestigious G-20 Summit held in Delhi during 2023 and United Nations Medal for service in United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
