"Poor Richard's Almanack" was an annual publication by Benjamin Franklin under the pseudonym "Poor Richard." Published from 1732 to 1758, it was immensely popular in the Thirteen Colonies, offering weather forecasts, household tips, and Franklin's witty aphorisms. Using the persona of "Richard Saunders," Franklin delivered practical advice with humor and satire, distancing himself from the character. Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790) was a polymath and Founding Father of the United States, excelling as a writer, scientist, inventor, and diplomat. His newspaper publications, like the Pennsylvania Gazette and Poor Richard's Almanack, made him famous. He also founded educational institutions and played pivotal roles in colonial and international affairs, advocating for unity and securing aid during the American Revolution. Franklin's scientific experiments, including work on electricity and inventions like the lightning rod, further cemented his legacy. His influence is seen in his portrayal on the $100 bill and the naming of numerous landmarks in his honor.
