Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869–1948), known as Mahatma Gandhi, was a key leader in India’s independence movement, pioneering nonviolent resistance. A lawyer by training, he inspired global civil rights struggles and remains a symbol of peace, justice, and pluralism.
