Mr R V Raghavan joined the then Vijaya Bank [now Bank of Baroda] in the year 1982 as Probationary officer, after a distinguished academic career. He obtained Govt of India Merit scholarship for having achieved distinction in School Leaving Certificate exam. He then obtained a degree in science from the Bangalore University. Having attained superannuation in 2019, he started reading books like Srimad Ramayana, Mahabharata, SrimadBhagavatam and Sri Vishnu Purana. Having read the sacred books,he was convinced that our ancient sages had written the Puranas based on facts. This book “Science and puranas [with teachings of Sri Ramanuja and prescribed conduct to attain liberation ] establishes that our puranas is not a myth but is written based on facts. Sri Ramanuja’s teachings as well as the important chapter of Mahabharata “MokshadharmaParva “[prescribed conduct to attain liberation] is included. The importance of kine is also added. It is hoped that by reading this book, Bhakti or devotion to God will be developed which will lead to salvation, the ultimate object of attainment in this world. This book is dedicated to my parents Sri KVRajagoplalIyengar and Smt R Rukmani ,who passed away a few years back.

In Science and Puranas , the origin and extinction of the Universe is given. The period of important incarnations of the Lord as well as the period of Ikshvaku kings [including that of Sri Rama] is given. Further the power of sages like Agastya, who drank the ocean , is corroborated with evidence. Further sea level changes [decrease and increase] vis a vis sage Agastya drinking ocean and King Bhagiratha of Ikshvaku dynasty bringing river Ganga from heaven is brought out. Various scientific inventions like the precession of earth, earth spinning on its axis, position of Great bear constellation ,as well as that of planet earth [at the time of solar evolution], the great deluge etc , which were known to our sages , is also mentioned. The position of planets inhabited by living beings , as well as that of hellish and heavenly planets is also given. Titius-Bode Law and its relation with Bhu-mandala is also given. In Sri Ramanuja’s Gita Bashyam, Lord Krishna’s preachings to Arjuna is explained in a lucid manner. In “Mokshadharma Parva “ of Mahabharata, the path of liberation as well as the Shastras prohibiting death by suicide etc is given. The importance of kine is also added. It is hoped that by reading this book, Bhakti or devotion to God will be developed which will lead to salvation, the ultimate object of attainment in this world.
