It was stated in Education Commission Report (196466) that "of all the factors that influence the quality of education the competence and character of teacher are undoubtedly the most significant.", , This Book on teaching competency of primary school teachers is based on a research study conducted by The Author for doctoral degree in education. It consists of five chapters. Chapter I provides the basic knowledge of teaching competency. Sufficient coverage on studies related to teaching competencies has been discussed in chapter II. In chapter III, design and procedure of the study including different steps of development of tool etc. have been discussed in detail. Analysis of data, results and their interpretation have been given in chapter IV. In the last chapter findings, their educational implications and suggestions have been given., , This book is useful for teacher educators, primary school teachers, policy makers and researchers. It is also useful for students of teacher education.

Vinod Kumar Singh (b. 1970) is a lecturer in Institute of Education, SHEPA, Nibia, Bachchaon, Varanasi. He completed his M. Ed, from Lucknow University; M.A. (Maths) from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. He has done his Ph.D. in the field of primary education from Lucknow University. He is also diploma holder in computer science. He has gained fouryears teaching experience of B. Ed, classes. Presently he is also associated with teaching M. Ed, classes. Besides teaching in U.G. and P.G. classes, he is actively engaged in research work also.The area of specialization of Dr. Singh is teaching of mathematics and educational psychology. He has published papers/articles in different journals. He has attended several seminars, workshops, symposia etc. During the period of his academic career, he has got additional experience of academic counselor of B. Ed, classes of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.
