She authored over 60 books, with The Son of a Genius and The Blind Farmer and His Children among her most popular. Her works emphasized Christian values, perseverance, and moral development. She also wrote educational geography texts and poetry. Hofland collaborated with architect John Soane and published a richly illustrated work on Whiteknights Park, though financially unrewarded. Her writings were widely read and translated internationally.
