Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was an exceptionally gifted storyteller. While studying at the University of Edinburgh Medical School from 1876, he started writing. After graduating in 1881, he worked as a surgeon on the steamer Mayumba, traveling to the West African coast.
