Fortuné Hippolyte Auguste Abraham-Dubois (1821–1891), known as Fortuné du Boisgobey, was a French novelist born in 1821. Initially a paymaster in the Army of Africa, he later turned to writing, becoming a prolific author with over sixty works. Du Boisgobey's novels, often dealing with crime and Parisian life, enjoyed high circulation and were translated into English. He was particularly associated with Émile Gaboriau and wrote a sequel to Gaboriau's Monsieur Lecoq series.
