Silence, strength, and polarized portrayals

Challenging the long held and often oversimplified view on the position of women in ancient India, this fascinating and thought-provoking book is a comprehensive historical inquiry offering a nuanced exploration of their lives, through a kaleidoscope of compelling historical evidence.

The lives of women of that period must not be read through linear narratives of decline or progress. Their status was shaped by a matrix of variables. Agency and restriction coexisted, often within the same social frameworks.

Women in Ancient India: A Study Beyond Myths and Bias reveals an image characterized by continuity and change, contradiction and negotiation, rather than static norms.

Turn the pages... decode how women came to be caged by custom yet flourished beyond it.
