Sie ist das letzte gro e, bislang nicht erschlossene Dokument der Lyrikgeschichte des 18. Jahrhunderts.

Der G�ttinger Hain geh�rt zur Geschichte der Jugendbewegung; seine Gedichte sind im Wesentlichen vergessen. Durch die Bez�ge zu den gro en Themen haben sie aber ein bleibendes geschichtliches Gewicht: Empfindsamkeit, Genie�sthetik, Klopstockverehrung und Wielandfeindlichkeit, Nationalthematik, Franzosenfeindlichkeit, Volkslied und Kunstballade usw.
