About The Book

The Tale of a Tub and Other Works is a collection of satirical essays and prose by the renowned Irish author, Jonathan Swift. The book includes Swift's most famous work, The Tale of a Tub, which is a parody of religious extremism and the corruption of the Church of England. The story follows the adventures of three brothers who each represent a different sect of Christianity and their struggle to interpret their father's will, which is a metaphor for the interpretation of religious texts. In addition to The Tale of a Tub, the book includes other notable works by Swift such as A Modest Proposal, which suggests that the impoverished Irish population should sell their children as food to the wealthy, and Gulliver's Travels, a satirical novel that follows the adventures of Lemuel Gulliver as he explores strange and fantastical lands.
